Discovery is committed to reconciliation and inclusion. Greenpoint will continue Gunn Street's work with Tagari Lia (Bridgewater) Child and Family Centre to support a community rich in culture, history and diversity. Our service regularly attends their Little Mob playgroup to experience cultural connections and help build our knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and history. Creating a culturally safe environment supports children to develop a strong sense of self identity.
MOVEMENT TO MUSIC
Our service participates in the Bridgewater Library Rock & Rhyme sessions. These sessions help children develop fine motor skills through action songs and instrument playing, gross motor coordination through dance, and development of rhythm.
GYMNASTICS
Our service visits the Hobart Gymnastics Academy every month, providing children with further opportunities for physical activity, building confidence and self-esteem, strength, flexibility and coordination.
INCLUSION SUPPORT
We have developed a nationally recognised inclusion support program for children with additional needs. Our educators are trained in the delivery of specific programs assisting children with their development of social skills, resilience and a creating a sense of belonging in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Excursions
The Discovery bus will enable regular opportunities to go on excursions and strengthen links with the local community. These excursions expose children to a range of different experiences and enable them to further connect with their community.
