Kirsten Chilcott

People & Culture Advisor

Kirsten has over six years’ of experience in employment and recruitment-related roles. She holds a Bachelor of Business, with a dual Management & Human Resources major, as well as a Certificate IV in Project Management.

With a strong history in the Disability, Aged Care and now Early Childhood Education & Care sectors, Kirsten has a demonstrated passion for working in sectors that actively make a difference in the lives of those the organisation supports. Since joining the Discovery team in mid-2023, Kirsten has taken on a generalist role within the People & Culture team managing recruitment, onboarding, worker’s compensation and providing support to directors and staff.

Kirsten is the proud mother of one strong-willed little boy, and soon to be baby girl. Her spare time is spent on their acreage at home in Natone, or camping around Tasmania with a book in hand.

Amanda Leary

People, Culture and Payroll Coordinator

Amanda joined Discovery in December 2023 as the People, Culture and Payroll Coordinator, based in our Ulverstone Head Office.

Working within the People & Culture team and coordinating between the CEO, Managing Director, Operations Managers and Centre Directors to ensure all Discovery staff are paid correctly. Her role also includes recruitment, contractual changes, mandatory and operational reporting and maintaining all HR systems.

Bringing with her many years of payroll and office experience in various other sectors, Amanda also worked as an Early Education Teacher Assistant while her children were young. Combining her passion for improving educational and social outcomes, people, and numbers she has found the right fit with Discovery.

Amanda’s favourite thing to do in leisure time is making memories with her 3 daughters, Montannah, Georgia and Bella (two of whom work in the children’s entertainment industry), being a soccer and football mum and traveling interstate or overseas. Recently she traveled to a number of countries in Europe with her girls while her eldest daughter was living in Paris, France.

Amanda also has two adorable Cavalier King Charles lap dogs at home.

Andrea Hingston

People & Culture Officer

Andrea has 20 years of experience in the Early Childhood Education and Care Sector, with a vast range of experience in this time. Andrea holds an Advanced Diploma in Early Childhood Education and has achieved much in her time in the sector.

Beginning her career as an unqualified Outside School Hours Care Educator, Andrea worked her way up through her studies to become the Director of a service. She won the opportunity to travel to a Childcare Conference in Kuala Lumpur, which allowed her to gain knowledge and understanding of the sector in another country.

Starting with Discovery in 2022, Andrea initially worked as an Administration Support Officer and has now progressed into a role within the People & Culture Team. In her new role, Andrea assists with onboarding new staff, managing all aspects of employee training and qualifications, and works closely with our Manager of Innovation & Strategic Direction to support Discovery’s traineeship programs.

Andrea has 3 adult children, 2 beautiful grandchildren and a partner. After spending 35 years playing/coaching softball as a hobby, she now enjoys spending her weekends with her family and friends.
