Melissa Johnstone
Melissa has returned ‘home’ after spending the last 20 years living in Victoria. Her career started in Tasmania over 25 years ago and she has managed several early childhood services in Melbourne. This included working with Local Government for 11 years prior to becoming the Director of the Launceston Early Learning Centre.
Melissa has completed her Diploma of Early Childhood, Diploma of Management and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. She is passionate about life-long learning and looks forward to continuing formal studies in the future.
Relationships are one of the most important components of the work that she does and considers this to be a high priority for the team that represents Discovery. She views relationships as the foundation in achieving better outcomes for children, their families and the educators.
Melissa started her journey with Discovery early 2019 and was excited to lead the team in the Launceston Early Learning centre when it first opened, helping them to achieve an Exceeding rating in all seven Quality Areas in their Assessment and Rating in late 2021.
In her spare time, Melissa loves spending time with her loved ones and her fur baby Jax, as well as being a part of her local community now that she is home.
