Green Point Officially Opened!

Green Point has replace Discovery’s Gunn Street Early Learning centre that has been operating in the community for almost 30 years.

The purpose built facility features an extensive nature-based outdoor environment that fosters children’s natural curiosity, and desire for exploration. The indoor and outdoor environments have been designed to facilitate play-based learning with natural environments that spark imagination, build resilience, and encourage socialisation.

Green Point Early Learning Centre is a regional service, catering to the needs of the local communities of Bridgewater, Old Beach, Herdsmans Cove, Gagebrook, and Brighton. The service will provide care for children from birth to 12 years old in across 5 developmentally and age appropriate rooms. This outstanding facility has a purpose built Outside School Hours Care Room that will provide Before School Care, After School Care and Vacation Care. Children will be picked up from all the local schools on the service buses. The service supplies nutritious meals prepared by a qualified chef, including breakfast, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea depending on the session’s children attend.

Discovery’s CEO Jo Walsh said that they are excited to be able to move from the old Gunn Street building into this new facility. “The families and the community have been waiting for a long time for the new service to be built. This new regional centre will enable Discovery to extend their support services for the communities’ children and families”. The service has a team of highly experienced and qualified early childhood educators to ensure that the highest quality of care and early education is available to children; and offers a number of extracurricular activities including movement programs, music therapy and regular excursions on the Discovery bus.
