Continuous Learning and Growth
When you learn together - you grow together!
Professional development opportunities are highly valued at Discovery, as they provide the foundation for both individual and organisational growth. These opportunities not only enhance the skills and knowledge of our team members but also foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, where we can expand their horizons and bring new ideas to the table.
Recently we had the privilege of learning from Nairn Walker, of Social Solutions. Nairn's Celebrating Capacity workshop explores the key constructs for understanding human behaviour. With these understandings we are better able to identify the capacity each of us have. We can use this knowledge to develop strategies, policies, procedures and programs which can improve outcomes for everyone - team members, families and children.
Our learning opportunities, extend to our round table meetings. Our Management Meetings, which include our service leadership and head office teams, provides us the opportunity to share vital information, discuss challenges and wins, and learn something from each other as well as other experts in our sector.
At our recent Management Meeting we were joined by Liaison Offers from Strong Families Safe Kids, Advice and Referral Line. The information they share with us helps us strengthen our processes in regards to reporting child safety concerns and sourcing supports for families needing a helping a hand - because it takes a village to raise a child, and we're all in this together!
We're very grateful for these opportunities, as these connections help us enhance our communication and collaboration amongst our teams. By fostering an environment of open dialogue and shared learning, we aim to drive Discovery forward with a unified vision and strategy.
Learning, of course, must also be joyful! Discovery is an organisation that always takes advantage of the opportunities we have to spend quality time together. When we recently came together for a meeting and training session, we made sure to have some precious social time together.
Our social interactions are a critical part of our organisational culture. They allow us to build stronger bonds, improve team dynamics, and create a supportive atmosphere where everyone feels valued and included.
By prioritising our social time, we create a workplace environment that nurtures wellbeing and happiness. These moments of connection are essential in ensuring that our team members feel part of the Discovery family, ready to support one another in achieving our collective goals.
