Community Support

Discovery supports external organisations and charities through our Giving Back to Community program. Each service regularly fundraises either in monetary ways, through raising awareness or through the donation of goods; giving back to the community and teaching children to be active community members and socially aware.

This year our Sorell service supported a Charity Drive to raise funds for the Holman Clinic and Discovery was happy to support their fundraising efforts. The funds raised in this year's Charity Ride were sent to the North West Regional Hospital in Burnie, to be used to help purchase equipment to improve outcomes for people with head and neck cancers.

The W.P. Holman Clinic is one of the state’s leading cancer treatment clinics. There are clinics in all three of our Tasmanian Hospitals - servicing and supporting the whole state.

In the last 5 years the charity has proudly donated $214,000 to the Holman Cancer Clinic’s and the Head and Neck Units in both Hobart and Launceston Hospitals. This year they raised $105,000 for the North West Regional Hospital in Burnie.

Discovery is pleased to have assisted the charity in their magnificent fundraising efforts - we will continue to teach children the power of giving back. Involving children in charitable initiatives gives them the opportunity to learn about social awareness, empathy and kindness, teaching children about social justice and connecting them to their broader community - all of which have positive long-term effects on their mental health and wellbeing.

We are extremely proud of our team of educators who continually support charities and initiatives that benefits community. Community provides an important relationship environment; promotes belonging, and a sense of identity and learning for us all.
